The Way to Success.......
It is the
story of an army sergeant belonging to Hungry, named Karoly Takacs. He was a remarkable pistol shooter. He was denied to take part in a shooting contest
held in Budapest (his native city) because it was a competition among
commissioned officers and he was a sergeant. Karoly did not lose heart and
focus on the upcoming Olympic championship that was going to be held after three
years in 1940, in Tokyo. He did hard work to make his hand, world best hand.
Unfortunately, a tragic incident took place in his life, when he lost his best
hand, during a military exercise, a faulty grenade exploded in his right hand.
It was a very big and unbearable loss for him.
During his treatment for one month, he
was thinking that; “he lost everything, his passion for becoming world best
shooting athlete turned into pessimism.” Now he had two ways, either he would
lament for his loss and consider this incident as a will of Allah almighty or
look for an alternative way to get his ambition.
Unlike ordinary persons, he opted for the
second option. He didn’t make grief over whatever he lost and didn’t lose his
hope so early. But like a successful man, he brought into use, whatever he had.
He started secret practice with his left hand. The Olympic Games of the 1940s
postponed due to second world war and now his hope and focus were on next
Olympic games, which were scheduled in 1944. The war didn’t finish and 1944’s The Olympic games were also canceled. Now he was waiting for the next Olympic Games
that were scheduled in 1948, in London. In these four years, he continuously
kept on exercising. His ambition was to set a record in this world that,
“everything is possible despite if you lost everything.”
After four years in 1948, he joined
Olympic games, in London. The Argentinian player, who was champion of that time
met him and condoled over his lost dream. He admired him for being there, in
the ceremony to encourage his fellow players, but he [Argentinian player] was
astonished when he came to know that Karoly had come there to participate in
the contest as a player. His fellow players applauded his struggle and courage
toward his goal. He remained best in the overall series and won the championship.
He became the third disable Olympic athlete and first champion. He also took part
in the next Olympic champion in 1952, in Heliski and won as well. He reigned as
champion over the world for eight years. Karoly lost this status in 1956
Olympics, when he couldn’t persist his wonderful performance due to age factor.
Meanwhile, Karoly won several national medals. After 1956 he started to coach
other rookie players. One of his students also became a global champion. He
retired from the army as Lieutenant Colonel.
Karoly was a new trendsetter, who proved
that anyone could get his dream true if he has, focussed goal, persistent
struggle, and unfear less toward failure. We give up so early and lose hope,
thinking that; this position was not written in my fate account. We use to
accuse external factors that hamper our progress toward ambition. Unlike
extraordinary and successful people, who don’t believe in fate, they think
that they can make and remake imminent. They can trace their success track
despite social, natural and economical hurdles.
